PSG Vs Real Madrid: Mbappe's Late Goal Brought Les Parisiens To Beat Los Blancos 1-0

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris on Wednesday morning. The only goal in this match was scored by Kylian Mbappe in injury time.

Reporting from Antara, PSG immediately controlled the game from the start of the match. In the 5th minute, Kylian Mbappe stabbed on the left side and then sent a pass which was grabbed by Angel Di Maria. However, his shot still bounced too high from Thibaut Courtois' goal.

PSG got a good chance in the 18th minute. Mbappe's through ball was received by Nuno Mendes, who escaped on the left side in the penalty box, but Courtois's leg was still able to block his flick.

PSG continued to dominate possession and continued to confine Madrid to their own half.

In the 22nd minute, Nuno Mendes's effort to send a cross from the left actually sent the ball straight into the goal. However, Courtois was still quick to overcome it.

PSG performed well to break Madrid's attack. The visitors practically struggled to build their attack.

Les Parisiens threatened in the 32nd minute. Lionel Messi tried to pierce from the right, but his pass was still wide on the left of the goal without being greeted by other PSG players.

PSG launched a counter-attack in the 43rd minute. Messi passed to Mbappe on the left, who then tried to push through the middle. Unfortunately his efforts to send feedback to the right can still be cut by Madrid players.

Opportunity for Madrid in the last minute of the first half. Casemiro's corner was headed in the penalty area, but the ball still glided thinly to the left of the goal.

The first half ended goalless.

After the break, PSG immediately threatened in the 46th minute. Through a counter-attack scheme, Messi sent a breakthrough bait to Mbappe in front of the penalty box. Unfortunately David Alaba was able to cut it.

Three minutes later, PSG again had a golden opportunity through Mbappe's kick in front of the penalty box after receiving the ball from a quick pass. However, Courtois made a brilliant save with his right hand.

Again the home team tried to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. This time Messi's kick from outside the penalty box was still leading right to Courtois.

Madrid hit back two minutes later with Toni Kroos' strike in front of the penalty area, but his effort still missed the mark.

The game entered the 60th minute and PSG still locked Madrid.

PSG could have opened the scoring in the 61st minute. Mbappe was violated by Dani Carvajal in the forbidden box. Messi advanced as the executor, but his shot to the right was predictable by Courtois. The position is still 0-0.

PSG finally played the MNM trio up front after Neymar came on to replace Angel di Maria in the 72nd minute. Neymar himself has missed PSG's last 11 games through injury.

The Brazilian immediately gave a threat with his dribbling skills, which had to be stopped by two Madrid players to produce a free kick in the penalty box.

Messi took the kick, but the ball was still slightly wide to the left of Courtois' goal.

Los Blancos really struggled to develop their game and PSG again got a golden opportunity in the 77th minute. Messi dribbled to the left and crossed in front of goal, but the ball was too fast for Mbappe to hit.

Madrid made a change in the 82nd minute. Luka Modric has left to replace Federico Valverde. Benzema's turn was pulled out by Carlo Ancelotti and entered Gareth Bale.

PSG finally broke the deadlock in injury time or the 93rd minute.

Neymar gives a heel pass to Mbappe. The French forward stabbed into the box and past two Madrid players before firing a shot that Courtois didn't miss. The score became 1-0.

The goal ended the match and PSG will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg with a 1-0 advantage.
