Kemen PPPA Guards Cases Of Father Raising 2 Daughters Until One Of Them Dies In South Buru
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection is committed to overseeing the handling of cases of sexual violence by a father against his two daughters in South Buru Regency, Maluku.
One of the victims finally died on February 8, 2022 after 22 days of receiving medical treatment.
"We are sorry for the death of victims of sexual violence in South Buru Regency. The Ministry of PPPA through the Friends of Women and Children Team (SAPA) has coordinated with the Maluku Provincial PPPA Service to provide psychological assistance to other victims who are still being treated at the Namrole Hospital and the families of the victims. ," said the Deputy for Child Special Protection at the PPPA Ministry, Nahar in a press release quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.
It also ensures that victims who are still being treated have the right to education.
Until now the victim is still being treated in hospital. The victim was also continuously accompanied and given trauma healing by the policewoman of the Buru Island Police.
"We also continue to monitor the condition of the victims through intense communication and coordination with the regions," he said.
The PPPA Ministry together with the Maluku Provincial PPPA Office will continue to oversee the ongoing legal process in the case currently being handled by the Buru Island Police.
The perpetrator has surrendered. Previously, the perpetrator fled after being questioned on January 22, 2022 and had the status of a wanted list (DPO).
This case was revealed when the victim, who is currently dead, was brought to the Namrole Hospital by the perpetrator with complaints of diarrhea. However, the results of the examination revealed that the victim's oral cavity was full of fungi and there were tears in the victim's vagina and anus.
"The victim was also diagnosed with malnutrition and anemia. The victim's condition is unstable and continues to weaken due to an infection in his body," said Nahar.
On January 22, 2022, another victim complained to her neighbors about the pain she was experiencing in her genitals.
In addition, the victim also told about the sexual violence experienced. However, the victim did not dare to report to the authorized institution because the perpetrator was threatened.
Related to this, Nahar added that the public can actively participate in reporting sexual violence that is known or experienced through the SAPA 129 service.
