Minister Of Manpower Ida Fauziyah's Policy On JHT Makes Workers Uneasy, Central Java DPRD Asks The Center To Reconsider

Central Java - Deputy Chairman of the Central Java DPRD, Heri Pudyatmoko, assessed that the Ministry of Manpower's policy regarding the disbursement of old-age insurance (JHT) has caused workers' anxiety in the regions.

"The policy of disbursement of JHT has caused anxiety for workers in the regions, especially so far JHT will be the focus of workers as business capital when affected by termination of employment (PHK)," he said in Semarang, Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

Not all workers are covered by this social security program and there are still many employers who are in arrears of contributions and participants are not necessarily able to get job loss insurance (JKP). He advised the government to review the implementation of the policy.

"Of course this must be considered and recalculated in this situation," said the Gerindra Party politician.

Heri said that currently many workers are affected by layoffs and do not receive severance pay due to the company's financial capacity that is not optimal.

"This situation then makes workers affected by layoffs rely on JHT savings as an emergency solution," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah explained the reason the JHT Program could only be fully disbursed when BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants were 56 years old because it was in line with the JHT objective, which is to protect participants when they reach old age and are no longer productive.

If it can be disbursed at productive age, then the program is not in accordance with the purpose of old age protection.
