Entrepreneurs Association Ready To Beautify Shop Aisles Along Malioboro

YOGYAKARTA - The Malioboro-Ahmad Yani Entrepreneurs Association is ready to beautify the shop aisles along Jalan Malioboro to Jalan Ahmad Yani so that it no longer looks dull and shabby.

"There has been an appeal from the management to all members to participate in beautifying the aisles in front of their respective shops. Of course, according to the abilities of the members," said Field Coordinator of the Malioboro Entrepreneurs Association-Ahmad Yani (PPMAY) KRT Karyanto Purbohusodo in Yogyakarta as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

According to him, one of the efforts that can be done to beautify the shop aisles is by painting them and from the local government there is an appeal to use white paint.

"I also repainted the hallway about two days ago. Basically, we support the local government's efforts to organize Malioboro, but once again it is adjusted to the ability of shop owners," he said.

There are 220 shops along Jalan Malioboro to Jalan Ahmad Yani.

In addition to repainting, the PPMAY hopes that the local government will also follow up on the arrangement of Malioboro street vendors (PKL) by repairing pedestrian terrazzo and rearranging electricity, telephone or internet cables to make it more organized and repainting the faded zebra crossing.

"After there were no street vendors, it was only seen that there were damaged terrazzo and tiles on pedestrians. Hopefully, the local government can immediately repair it so that Malioboro's condition will get better," he said.

The PPMAY said that the arrangement of Malioboro street vendors to Malioboro terraces 1 and 2 has a good impact on the condition of the Malioboro area because pedestrians look more spacious and pedestrians can walk more comfortably.

However, Karyanto also said that the changes in the Malioboro pedestrian area were actually used for activities that could disturb pedestrians.

"Nowadays, many are playing electric scooters and passing along the aisles. This activity can endanger people. Fear of hitting passers-by. Moreover, in the evening there are many visitors walking around," he said.

In addition, the shop aisle is also crossed by bicycle users and is even used as a rickshaw parking lot at night.

As for turnover, Karyanto said there has been no significant increase because February to March is the low season. Tourists who come are not as many as other months.

Previously, Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti said that he would immediately make improvements in the Malioboro area so that it is more well organized, looks clean and tidy so that tourists who come will feel more comfortable.

One of the arrangements that will be made is to paint the buildings along Jalan Malioboro with a uniform color, white.

"Cleanliness and beauty are also an inseparable part of tourist attractions. The exoticism of Malioboro combined with cleanliness and beauty certainly makes this area more attractive to visit," he said.
