Densus Arrests 3 Terrorists In Bengkulu, One Of Them Is The Head Of The JI Branch
JAKARTA - Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested three suspected terrorists in Bengkulu. All three are the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network that is connected to other groups.
"The three people are from the Bengkulu JI network which is connected to JI Palembang, Riau and North Sumatra," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Thursday, February 10.
The three suspected terrorists have the initials CA, M, and R. While CA is the head of the JI Bengkulu Branch.
"CA is involved as the head of JI Bengkulu branch whose job is to recruit," said Ramadhan.
From the results of the investigation, it is known that the three terrorists who were arrested on Wednesday, February 9, have pledged allegiance to JI since 1999. They are active in various fundraising activities to hide fugitives.
"They are active in recruitment, fundraising, and facilitating perpetrators or DPOs to hide or escape," said Ramadhan.
Previously, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested two suspected terrorists in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. They are a network of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
The two suspected terrorists had the initials RAU (31) and SU (51). They were arrested at a different location on February 9.
The RAU was arrested on Jalan Bener, Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta City. Meanwhile, SU was arrested on Jalan Nyai Cabe, Sewon, Garon, Bangunharjo, Sewon District, Bantul Regency.
