Police Raid Drug Village In Medan, Dozens Of People Arrested
MEDAN - The Medan Police Narcotics Investigation Unit team, North Sumatra, searched a village which was suspected to be a nest of drug trafficking in the city of Medan.
The Head of Drugs at the Medan Polrestabes Kompol Rafles Marpaung said in the raid the police arrested 17 people suspected of being drug users and dealers.
"We have secured 17 people, one of whom was caught red-handed in possession of four packages of methamphetamine. We will check the urine for the others," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.
From this raid, the police confiscated evidence in the form of dozens of methamphetamine suction devices, 17 jackpot gambling machines, four packages of crystal methamphetamine and a large package of marijuana.
"We don't know the weight of this one package of marijuana," he said.
The raid was carried out based on public reports related to the rampant circulation of drugs in the jurisdiction of the Medan Polrestabes.
"Many public complaints go to the Narcotics Satres who are restless with drug trafficking and gambling activities," he said.
At the time of the raid, Rafles admitted that his party received resistance from the local community who did not accept the presence of the police.
"We will continue to carry out this activity so that the city of Medan can be free from drug trafficking," he said.
