Radio Tape Suddenly Shorted, One House In Pasar Rebo Caught Fire
JAKARTA - A house that is being rented out on Jalan Damai RT 10/03, No 53D, Gedong Village, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta was burned to the ground on Tuesday, February 8, morning. The fire is estimated to have started at around 8:20 a.m.
"The burnt house was a rented house belonging to H Yatin with an area of about 18 square meters of burned objects," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, February 8.
The process of extinguishing the fire was carried out after officers received reports from residents at around 08.20 WIB to the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. office.
"We deployed 4 units of fire engines with 20 personnel to the location where the fire was burning. The fire started to extinguish at around 09.00 WIB with the help of manual extinguishing by local residents," he said.
The officers then collected data at the location and sought statements from witnesses for the investigation process.
"As a result of the fire, the loss was estimated at IDR 15 million. The cause was an electrical short circuit," said Gatot.
According to witness testimony to Gulkarmat officers, the fire started when a contractor turned on a radio-type electronic device and then left it.
"So there was a contractor turning on the electronics in the form of radio tape, while he was staying. Then there was an electrical short circuit and the fire grew," he said.
"Currently the fire has been extinguished and has cooled down at the location," added Gatot.
