63 Teachers-Students Exposed To COVID-19, PTM At MAN Surabaya Diverted Online
SURABAYA - The case of COVID-19 in the city of Surabaya continues to increase, and has an impact on face-to-face learning activities (PTM). One of them is Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Surabaya, where 63 people namely 58 students and 5 teachers were exposed to COVID-19.
"So it's temporarily shifted to online (online), and if later we carry out PTM again, then a blended learning model will be made with a gradual system," said the Head of MAN Surabaya, Fathorrakhman, confirmed, Thursday, February 3.
Dozens of students and teachers were found to be positive for COVID-19, based on the results of a PCR swab conducted by the local Health Center and the COVID-19 Task Force in Rungkut District.
According to Fatur, the case started when a 12 MIPA 6 student did not attend school because he was positive for COVID-19. Knowing this, Fatur admitted that he immediately carried out a mass PCR swab test in the classroom, and the results found 15 students and two teachers were also positive for COVID-19.
"There were students who tested positive on Thursday (27/1/2022). Then from one class that was swab PCR on Friday, 15 students and 2 teachers tested positive," he said.
Not stopping there, Fatur admitted that he also immediately activated tracing by imposing PCR swab tests on 363 grade 12 students, as well as on 25 teachers and employees at MAN Surabaya on Monday, January 31, 2022.
As a result, 46 people were found positive for COVID-19. "So some of the positive ones are in isolation in the Hajj Dormitory, and are self-isolating. So that as many as 11 students are being treated under the supervision of medical personnel," he said.
Fatur continues to monitor the health conditions of his teachers and students who have been exposed to COVID-19. Currently, said Fatur, the condition of the students has improved and four of them have returned home to undergo further treatment at home.
"Meanwhile, students and teachers who choose to self-isolate at home are reported to have continued to improve," he said.
As a result of this situation, Fatur issued a PTM policy to be temporarily suspended, transferred to online learning for the next week. "We'll see the progress if we have to do PTM again, so that it's safe the school will make sure to do a PCR swab first," he said.
