Ustadzah's Hashtag Is Trending After Oki Setiana's Lecture On Domestic Violence From Husband To Wife, Gun Romli: Not The Teachings Of The Prophet

JAKARTA - The name of Oki Setiana Dewi was highlighted after a snippet of her lecture about beating husbands to wives circulated. In the video lecture, the main character of the film 'When Cinta Bertasbih' mentions the true story of a wife who covered up her husband's beating in front of her parents.

On Twitter, netizens' comments with the hashtag Ustadzah were busy being tweeted. As of Thursday, February 3 at around 11.22 WIB, this hashtag has included 8,840 Tweets.

One of those who strongly commented on Oki Setiana's lecture was Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) activist Mohamad Guntur Romli.

Through his Twitter (@GunRomli), Gun Romli called Oki's lecture careless or stupid. "Declaring domestic violence, lying to parents is not the teachings of the Prophet," said Gun Romli, quoted today.

Gun Romli then included a hadith of the prophet to support his argument. "The best person from you, the best to his family, and I am the best to my family. The sudden phenomenon of ustadzah," wrote Gun Romli.

Not only Gun Romli, the santri community of Gus Nadirsyah Hosen via Twitter @na_dirs also made sharp comments about Oki Setiana's lecture.

"Tell the ustadzah, if a husband beats his wife it's actually not a disgrace that must be covered by the wife. It's domestic violence. You have to report to the police. Stories like this actually make the wife forced to accept her husband's jerky behavior in the name of guarding her husband's disgrace. Your wife is not a fist woy !" account tweet.

In the lecture, Oki claimed this was based on a true story in Jeddah.

"The husband was very angry, so his wife was beaten in the face. Then his wife cried, suddenly the doorbell rang. When the wife opened her eyes, it turned out that her mother was the wife. Even though his wife could complain to her parents. I was just beaten, there was domestic violence, there was domestic violence," said Oki in the video quoted from the Instagram reel @permadiaktivis2, Thursday, February 3.

It turned out that the wife did not tell the sad story of her husband's beating and instead said that she was crying because she missed her parents.

"But the wife said, Oh Allah, I cry because I miss my father and mother. Her husband melted his heart. My wife, Masyaallah, keeps my own disgrace. It's extraordinary, I love and love her husband more. So there is no need if stories make us vilify our partner myself," said Oki.
