Southwest Maluku Shakes, An Earthquake Of 6.2 Magnitude Occurs, No Tsunami Potential
JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 6.2 occurred in Southwest Maluku on Wednesday, February 2 at around 02:25 western Indonesia time.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred in the sea at a depth of 131 kilometers.
"The point of the earthquake was 86 kilometers northeast of Southwest Maluku," the BMKG wrote on its official Twitter page which was monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday.
BMKG also stated that the earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami. In addition, the earthquake was also felt up to (MMI) II-III Saumlaki.
