JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Metro Police are investigating the case of an online taxi driver who hit two robbers to death on Abdullah Syafei Street, Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta.
The South Jakarta Police Chief, Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto, said that the information that was spread about the suspect in the robbery was still under investigation.
"Yes, of course we will see later, we are a state of law. So in our country there are rules and regulations. Spreading fake news has its provisions. So we will see whether there are violations or allegations that have occurred or not," Budhi told reporters at South Jakarta Police, Friday, January 28.
Budhi explained that there were two incidents in the case, namely mugging and accidents.
"We have carried out a series of investigative and investigative actions against the incident, we know that in general there are two events. The conclusion is that the case contains an alleged criminal act as reported," he continued.
Budhi explained that the two people who were hit by an online taxi driver were robbers. It has also named the two robbers as suspects.
However, the investigation into the mugging case in Tebet was stopped because the two suspects died.
"Because the suspect is suspected of committing a crime, in this case the suspect dies, then according to the provisions of the law, we must stop the investigation," he said.
Regarding the accident case in the area, he revealed that it had been handed over to the Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya.
Another incident is the collision incident, which happened to have been withdrawn by the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya and is in the process of being handled by the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya," he said.

The case went viral on social media again after the Twitter account @imcutieaw said the online taxi driver who was a mugging victim had slandered the perpetrator.
According to the account, online taxi drivers are only playing victims, aka as if they were victims of the incident.
"Remember this viral news? 3 months ago, an ojol (car) hit two people who snatched it? You have to know the facts. slander the deceased driver," wrote the account.
