Sleman Health Office: COVID-19 Cases In Private Schools Increase By 27 People

SLEMAN - The Sleman District Health Office, Special Region of Yogyakarta, reported that a positive case of COVID-19 in a private school in Mlati District increased by 27 cases, bringing the total to 31 positive confirmed cases.

"The results of the 'tracing' of the 97 samples sent, 27 samples were confirmed positive for COVID-19," said the Head of the Sleman District Health Office, Cahya Purnama, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 28.

According to him, previously in the school environment from the results of tracking there were four people who were positively exposed to COVID-19.

"So until today there are a total of 31 people who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19," he said.

Cahya said the samples sent included samples taken from middle and high school students and teachers in the school environment.

"In addition to student samples, samples were also taken from school cleaners, the school catering department," he said. The student who was confirmed positive for COVID-19 immediately underwent independent isolation (isoman) in the school environment and one person was isolated in an integrated isolation shelter (isoter). "The school does have adequate facilities for isoman, besides that there is also a school doctor who can monitor those who are isoman," said Cahya.

Previously, the Sleman District Education Office on Thursday, January 27, temporarily closed 100 percent face-to-face learning (PTM) at a private junior high school in Kapanewon (Kecamatan) Mlati because there was one student who tested positive for COVID-19.

"PTM at a private junior high school in Mlati has to be stopped every day for two weeks because there is one student whose PCR test result is positive for COVID-19," said Head of the Sleman Regency Education Office, Ery Widaryana in Sleman.

According to him, one student who was positive for COVID-19 was most likely infected from his family, because his parents were businessmen and often went out of the area or out of town.

"From the tracing findings of one student who was positive for COVID-19, further tracing was carried out on students, education staff, and others at the school," he said.
