Star Trek's Captain Kirk Will Go On A Mission To Space October 2021

JAKARTA - William Shatner, who plays Captain Kirk in the Star Trek film, will make a new history. A known brave figure and explorer of new worlds that have never been visited, in the film will make real space history as the oldest person to ever go into space.

The 90-year-old will take part in the launch of the Blue Origin rocket, Amazon's next founder, Jeff Bezos. The mission is scheduled to launch in October 2021. This flight mission will take place 55 years and 1 month after William Shatner first debuted as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek films.

Now Shatner is not playing movies anymore. But he is still a presenter on a show on the HBO television network, History.

She will break the recent record set by pioneering aviator Wally Funk, who was 82 when he joined Bezos on the first Blue Origin launch, 60 years after failing to do so with NASA because she was a woman.

Prior to Funk, the record was held by John Glenn, who reached space at the age of 77, nearly four decades after becoming the first American to orbit Earth.

Shatner technically wouldn't be an astronaut. The Federal Aviation Administration issued new guidelines just after Bezos' first flight, changing the rules so that only those who "demonstrate activity during flight that is essential to public safety, or contribute to the safety of human spaceflight" get their official astronaut wings.

The other three people who will join Shatner on the New Shepard rocket, have not been named. An official announcement is expected Monday, September 27.

Star Trek films have meant a lot to fans throughout their decades of existence. It was only fitting that one of the most important figures in the show, got to see what the stars in outer space really looked like.

Shatner's space flight was also filmed as part of an upcoming documentary. Even though fans weren't invited on this particular trip, they might soon see his full reaction to the experience.
