iPhone 20 All Glass Is Said to Continue, Apple Prepares Special 20th Anniversary Design

JAKARTA - Rumors that the all-glass iPhone 20 will be canceled have begun to be refuted. The iPhone Pro model prepared by Apple to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027 is said to still be in development, although the design is likely no longer to use glass as much as the original concept.

A previous report from analyst firm Jefferies said the 2027 iPhone would no longer use a glass-everywhere design. The report attributed the decision to low production yields or yields from the design developed by Apple.

However, a Bloomberg report on August 11, 2026, said that the iPhone Pro with a glass-focused design was still on track for 2027. The report also denied the assumption that the design project had been stopped.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 20 or iPhone 19 in September 2027, depending on the naming that the company ultimately chooses. Currently, the iPhone 18 lineup has not been introduced.

The design of the iPhone 20 Pro is said to use glass that wraps around the edge of the device and is supported by a metal band in the middle. The term "all-glass" does not mean that all components of the device are made of glass because the device still needs a frame, main board, and other components.

The concept is also said to be related to Apple's software design language, Liquid Glass. Apple is rumored to have previously wanted to use more glass in the device, but the concept was stopped at an early stage of development.

Thus, Jefferies' report likely refers to a design version that uses glass more maximally. The main design of the 20 Pro iPhone itself is said to be still being developed, but with a more limited level of glass usage.

If realized, the iPhone 20 Pro will be one of Apple's biggest design changes since the iPhone X was introduced in 2017. At that time, Apple introduced major changes by removing the Home button and using a screen that fills almost the entire front of the device.

Since the iPhone X, the main design changes of the iPhone have been relatively limited. Apple then introduced Dynamic Island and changed the design of the camera protrusion in the following generations.

The latest report also mentions that major changes to the design of the 2027 iPhone Pro are not expected to occur at the relatively advanced development stage. Apple generally sets the design of the device about a year before the launch in September.

Rumors about the cancellation of the all-glass iPhone 20 have not shown that the design project has been completely stopped. The 2027 iPhone Pro model is said to be still under development, with possible adjustments to the level of glass use.
