JAKARTA - In the inaugural report of the Gemini Report: Southeast Asia 2026 conducted by Google online, Tuesday, Indonesia is the most creative country in using Gemini-based artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence/AI) in Southeast Asia, producing almost nine million images every day.

The report reviews the adoption and use patterns of the Gemini app in six countries with the largest user bases in the region, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

"In Indonesia, one out of every three prompts (orders) is purely creative. Indonesian people produce nine million custom images every day to realize their ideas, the most in the region," said Vice President, Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier Google, Sapna Chadha.

Google says the visual creativity of the Indonesian people is driven by the high use of mobile devices. As many as 82 percent of Gemini prompts in Indonesia come from mobile devices, while one in two commands has involved multimodal input such as voice or images, no longer just text.

According to Google, the ease of activity through mobile devices encourages the Indonesian people to use Gemini to express their ideas through the creation of AI-based images.

"Another unique thing about Indonesia is the way they give prompts. As many as 82 percent of Gemini prompts in Indonesia come from mobile devices. In addition, almost half of them use voice or image input to pour ideas while traveling," said Sapna.

Regionally, the report also notes that about 40 percent of the queries submitted by Gemini users in Southeast Asia aim to generate new works, ranging from images, music, videos to documents.

In the past year, users in the region have produced five billion images using the Nano Banana image maker model.

In addition, almost 1 million songs have been created in Southeast Asia since Google introduced Lyria 3, a music-making model from Gemini.

The report also shows that Gemini's adoption in Southeast Asia continues to increase. In the past year, the number of active users of the Gemini app in the region has more than doubled. Google said that this growth was supported by the dominance of the young population that is technologically literate and Gemini's ability to understand local languages in Southeast Asia.
