SK hynix Partners with Nvidia, Fighting for the Key to the Future AI Factory

SK hynix strengthens its position in the global artificial intelligence supply chain. The South Korean chip manufacturer signed a long-term technology partnership with Nvidia to develop a new generation of memory for AI factories.

As reported by Yonhap, quoted Tuesday, June 9, this cooperation continues the technical collaboration that both companies have built over the years. SK hynix's technology has supported a number of advanced AI computing platforms in the world.

AI factories refer to large computing centers designed to train and run artificial intelligence systems. In this ecosystem, high-speed memory becomes an important component because it determines how fast data is processed.

"SK hynix and Nvidia have built this cooperation for many years, and this partnership reflects the depth of the collaboration," said SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in a press release.

According to Chey, the two companies will jointly develop new generation memory for AI factories. SK hynix will also use AI in the design and production process of semiconductors.

"This work will shape the future of AI infrastructure," he said.

"AI factories are the next industrial revolution machines, and advanced memory is essential for their performance," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, as quoted by Yonhap.

As part of the deal, SK hynix and Nvidia will develop memory for Nvidia's next-generation systems, including the Vera Rubin AI supercomputer.

This cooperation is also aimed at maintaining the supply of advanced memory in the midst of soaring demand for AI infrastructure. SK hynix said the partnership would follow Nvidia's long-term roadmap.

In addition to the AI factory, SK hynix also wants to expand its business into the fields of personal AI and physical AI. Personal AI refers to AI services that are used directly by individuals, while physical AI refers to the application of AI in real devices or machines, such as robots and autonomous vehicles.

This announcement was made during Jensen Huang's visit to South Korea. During the visit, Huang is scheduled to meet with leaders of major conglomerates and researchers.

This partnership underscores the importance of advanced memory in the development of AI infrastructure, especially as global computing needs continue to increase.
