JAKARTA - Head of Public Policy, Indonesia and the Philippines Meta Berni Moestafa said he had asked for approval to extend the time to meet with the Ministry of Communication and Digital regarding the plan to discuss the Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in the Protection of Children (PP Tunas).

"We have requested an extension of time and have received approval to meet with Komdigi next week to discuss our plans regarding the PP Tunas regulation," Berni said in an official statement received and confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.

This response is Meta's response to the second summons letter sent by the Ministry of Communication and Information to Meta because it assessed that the digital platform of the technology giant had not met the provisions of the Tunas Regulation.

Berni said his party would discuss plans related to the PP Tunas regulation with Kemkomdigi as the company's commitment to protect children and adolescents on digital platforms.

"We are committed to protecting young people on our platform and will provide further information," Berni said.

Previously on Thursday (2/4) the Ministry of Communication and Information had sent a second summons letter to Meta as the owner of the Threads, Instagram, and Facebook platforms, and Google as the owner of YouTube.

This call was made because the two had not met the first call to undergo an examination regarding compliance with child protection regulations in the digital space.

Kemkomdigi emphasized that compliance with child protection rules is not merely an administrative obligation, but a responsibility that has a direct impact on the safety of children in the digital space.

Kemkomdigi continues to monitor and prepare further steps if non-compliance with the PP Tunas by digital platform providers continues.

According to Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital Number 9 of 2026, platform providers who do not comply with the rules can be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of reprimands, temporary suspension of access, to termination of access.
