JAKARTA - NetApp has upgraded its enterprise-class data platform to accelerate Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation. This is done by launching the NetApp AI Data Engine (AIDE).

The platform is directly integrated with the latest technology from NVIDIA. NetApp said that AIDE is designed to address the major challenges of managing massive amounts of data across global ecosystems.

"With NetApp AIDE and support for NVIDIA's leading AI capabilities, we are helping customers build enterprise-class AI factories powered by NetApp's high-performance unified storage platform," said Syam Nair, Chief Product Officer at NetApp, in a statement on Thursday, April 2.

One of the flagship features of NetApp AIDE is the ability to create a global metadata catalog automatically and continuously. This system is able to analyze file content without having to move data so as to reduce security risks and operational costs.

NetApp AIDE is scheduled to be available to a limited number of customers in April before being released widely in the coming summer. This integration also includes a variety of popular cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Vertex AI.

In the coming months, this infrastructure coverage will be expanded so that it can run on a variety of modern server options. This system supports the use of the latest graphics processing units (GPUs) from the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture for maximum performance.

NetApp also plans to add multimodal data capabilities that include visual data processing in the near future. In addition, support for Agentic AI will support a more secure self-service workflow on enterprise data.

This collaboration also involves other infrastructure partners such as Cisco through the FlexPod AI solution. The integration of computing, storage, and networking in one package is expected to facilitate the adoption of AI in various industrial sectors.
