Apple Launches First Firmware Update for Second Generation AirTag

Apple has launched the first firmware update for the second generation AirTag item tracker. This update with version number 3.0.45 is here to replace the previous version.

This is the first software update since the official launch of the AirTag 2 in January 2026. Unlike the previous distribution pattern which was carried out gradually, this latest firmware is available for all users simultaneously.

Until now, Apple has not provided in-depth details about what new features are brought in this version. However, based on previous track records, updates of this kind usually focus on bug fixes and improving connection stability.

Users can monitor their software version through the Find My app available on iOS devices. Users only need to log in to the Items tab, select the desired AirTag device, then tap its name to see its version details.

It is important to know that there is no special button to manually update this tracker. The firmware installation process will run automatically in the background via a wireless connection with the connected iPhone.

Users only need to ensure that the AirTag remains within the iPhone's Bluetooth range for the data transfer process to run smoothly. Also make sure that the internet connection on the phone remains stable to download the data package that the system needs.
