JAKARTA - The British Technology Minister, Liz Kendall, ordered X to remove dangerous deepfake content produced by Grok. The content falls into the category of deepfake because it is considered false and harms others.

Grok is now the focus of many countries because of its ability to transform objects from images uploaded by X users. However, this ability is widely misused to produce sexual content targeting women and minors.

According to Kendall, the dissemination of images carried out by Grok is degrading the dignity of the victim. Therefore, the British government began to act so that Grok's ability was not abused continuously to the detriment of more people.

To address the spread of vulgar deepfake content on X, the British government joined other European authorities in pressuring Elon Musk's platform. Kendall forced X to tighten the security system of Grok Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

"No one should have to go through the ordeal of seeing their own intimate deepfakes online. X needs to address this immediately," Kendall said in a statement, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday, January 7.

In addition to urging X to remove all deepfake content circulating on its platform, the British media regulator (Ofcom) demanded an explanation regarding Grok's editing capabilities. They asked X and xAI, Grok's developer, to provide details on the protection measures that have been taken.

It is not yet known whether X has submitted the report requested by Ofcom. However, the agency is investigating whether X has failed to meet its legal obligations, namely to protect its users in the UK.
