Apple Potentially Adopting 200MP Camera for iPhone in 2028

Apple is preparing a major change to its phone camera. The company is rumored to be bringing a 200MP camera for the first time, but in the coming years.

The development of cameras on Android devices is much more dynamic. At a time when Apple still relies on cameras with a resolution below 50MP, its competitors such as Samsung have already introduced 200 MP cameras since 2023.

Since releasing the iPhone 14, Apple has still maintained a 48MP resolution. Although it is smaller than its competitors, the iPhone camera still remains superior over time because the company focuses more on improving its sensor.

However, Apple seems to be starting to pay attention to the resolution of its mobile phone cameras to provide better capabilities. According to the Digital Chat Station leak on Weibo, launching from 9to5mac, Apple will adopt a 200MP camera in 2028.

Although Apple will continue to update the iPhone line until 2027, the device is expected to maintain the number of megapixels (MP) used. For now, Apple is expected to focus only on software and image processing improvements.

By updating its camera resolution in the coming years, Apple could still compete with other large-resolution phones. This would be a profitable strategy if Apple wants to continue to dominate the smartphone market.
