Motorola Edge 70 Ultra Leak: Carry Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 And Periscope Camera

JAKARTA - Motorola is back in the spotlight after the latest leak from Evan Blass revealed important details regarding the upcoming flagship, the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. The device with the codename Urus is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, in accordance with the previous benchmark results linking the processor to the XT2603-1 coded Motorola model.

Edge 70 Ultra will be Motorola's first non-foldable Ultra-class phone after the company missed Edge 60 Ultra. Its position is projected to be above the standard Edge 70 lineup, but still below the Razr Ultra 2026 which is rumored to carry a more powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 which is the center of the Edge 70 Ultra performance is built on a 3 nm fabrication process. This chipset relies on an Oryon CPU with two 3.8 GHz cores and six 3.32 GHz cores. Qualcomm promises a significant performance improvement over Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, both for daily tasks and heavy workloads.

The latest Adreno GPU focuses on stable gaming performance and power efficiency, while the NPU Hexagon offers AI processing on devices for a generative model, voice recognition, to multimodal input. Connectivity support includes 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, and NaviC. The camera capabilities are supported by a 20-bit pipeline, high-frame 4K recording, 8K playback, and recent HDR standards.

Other rumors say Edge 70 Ultra will carry 16 GB of RAM and run Android 16. The 1.5K OLED screen is predicted to be a mainstay, while the rear camera is likely to be equipped with a periscope lens for long-range optical zoom. Preliminary benchmark results recorded a score of 2,636 for single-core and 7,475 for multi-core in line with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

This phone is expected to debut in China first as Moto X70 Ultra before launching globally in early 2026. Referring to the previous Ultra line price and the position of Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 at the Qualcomm portfolio, the Edge 70 Ultra banderol is predicted to be in the range of 800 to 900 US dollars.

Motorola seems to be preparing a big comeback in the non-folding premium segment, and Edge 70 Ultra could be an important capital entering flagship competition in early 2026.
