JAKARTA The implementation of the 5G network is still not evenly distributed in Indonesia, but the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has focused on developing the next generation of data networks, namely 6G.
In an effort to implement this latest, faster network, BRIN is developing optical-based sub-tahhertz technology and the implementation of smart cloud networks. Both are believed to be able to support the development of high-speed communication.
Telecommunications technology will move forward and switch to 6G," said BRIN researcher Ken Paramayudha, quoted from BRIN's official website on Monday, December 1. "The need for data speed can reach up to a hundred times faster than 5G."

The researchers used non-linear optical materials to integrate into the rectangular waveguide. From the latest research results, the devices used are capable of producing signals up to 100 GHz.
This device can be applied to high-speed optical-electric conversion and fiber optic-based radio transmitter applications, explained Ken. On the other hand, BRIN is also focused on developing smart cloud networks.

Arief Indra Irawan, a Okayama University student, discussed the privacy processing approach in service functional chaining (SFC) as a strategy towards 6G cloud intelligence communication. Arief explained that this network virtualization technology is very important.
By using virtual networks, infrastructure becomes more flexible because each service can be arranged according to application needs. Arief also explained the application of the deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm to make decisions independently and adaptively.
"Network decisions must be intelligent because DRL is able to carry out long-term optimization based on the operational environment," said Arief. He also emphasized that these two elements are important to pay attention to because they are the key to the implementation of 6G.
