JAKARTA The French government will ask a judge in Paris on Wednesday 26 November to order the suspension of China's fast-fashion platform, Shein, for three months in French territory, according to a Ministry of Finance official on Tuesday, November 25.

Shein has previously disabled marketplace services in France since November 5, after the government found dangerous products sold by third parties, including sex dolls resembling children and weapons. However, the platform that sells Shein's clothing products is still accessible.

The government is now targeting the suspension of Shein's total website, as an effort to urge companies to tighten controls on products sold through its platform.

We know how powerful Shein is in terms of technicality, even in the use of artificial intelligence for its production. So we can assume that they have the technical, technology and financial ability to carry out product checks. In fact, they didn't," the Ministry of Finance official said at a press conference.

Shein has yet to comment on the report.

A Paris court is scheduled to hold a hearing on Wednesday over a case filed by the government against Infinite Styles Services Co Ltd, a Dublin-based company that operates Shein's business in Europe. Company lawyers are also scheduled to attend the trial.

This legal move began by the French government on the day Shein opened her first physical store in a shopping center in Paris.

Apart from Shein, the French government has also tightened surveillance of a number of other e-commerce platforms. The Paris Prosecutor's Office is investigating Temu, AliExpress, and Wish over alleged violations of the rules, including allowing minors access to pornographic content through their marketplace.
