JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized that technology independence is a new form of nationalism in the digital era.
"The aspiration to be technologically sovereign is one of the actions of nationalism, and to achieve digital independence, the development of a digital ecosystem is important," Nezar said in his official broadcast quoted Tuesday, November 11.
To support the digital ecosystem, infrastructure is very important. Currently, digital infrastructure is said to be almost evenly distributed throughout Indonesia.
However, Nezar added, infrastructure alone is not enough. According to him, digital infrastructure must be able to provide benefits to the community, both in the social, economic, or cultural fields.
"This infrastructure that has been built must be able to provide meaningful connectivity, have an impact, have an impact on people's social, economic and cultural life," he added.
Therefore, the government is not only focused on building digital infrastructure, but also provides various trainings to produce digital talents who are experts in cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI).
Furthermore, according to Nezar, Indonesia needs to have technology products that are in accordance with Pancasila and Indonesian culture.

"For example, for AI Large Language Model (LLM) such as ChatGPT, we master the technology, we make LLM made by the nation's children who can respect Pancasila values, which have no cultural bias due to differences in value and culture between Indonesia and AI-making countries," he said.
Not to forget, the Deputy Minister of Nezar also invited the public to jointly foster a sense of love for the homeland by maintaining the ethics of communicating in the digital space.
