JAKARTA The value of Google's parent company, Alphabet, is down more than 100 billion US dollars (Rp1,664 trillion). This is based on OpenAI, the ChatGPT development company, which announced its newest browser.

The browser, named ChatGPT Atlas, will be a competitor to Google Chrome. According to news.com.au's monitoring, the value of the Alphabet company fell just two hours after OpenAI announced its browser in a live broadcast.

Alphabet's share price also fell from US$252.68 (Rp4.2 million) to US$246.15 (Rp4 million) within 15 minutes. The decline in share prices, which is equivalent to the loss of market capitalization of around Rp1,664 trillion, raises concerns.

Although its value seems to be recovering, closed at USD 250.46 (IDR 4.1 million), this value is still down 2.37 percent compared to Monday. From this decline, Google needs to be more careful to continue to dominate the browser market in various parts of the world.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that Atlas is a web browser based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) built around ChatGPT. The browser is designed to take advantage of the popularity of the chatbot in online activities.

Atlas allows users to use chatbots in doing daily tasks such as asking questions and making a summary when navigating web pages. The 'Ask ChatGPT' button is also located in the corner of the site to facilitate interaction.

The main feature of this browser is the 'agent' mode demonstrated by Altman and the executive team. This mode allows chatbots to search and complete tasks independently on behalf of users on the web.

Altman explained that in agent mode, ChatGPT will use the web browser independently and return with the findings. This feature is integrated with ChatGPT memory so that conversations can feel more detailed.

Currently, Atlas is available for free on computers that use MacOS systems. However, the agent mode feature can only be accessed by Plus or paid version of ChatGPT users.
