Deputy Minister Of Communication And Trade Nezar Emphasizes The Importance Of Regional Cooperation In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, highlighted three important areas of regional cooperation in the technology sector, namely infrastructure protection, resilience to threats, and innovation.

According to Nezar, technology infrastructure and data sovereignty are the backbone of the economy in the digital era, so they need to be properly secured.

While in the midst of rapid technological advances, cybersecurity challenges demand every country to strengthen regional resilience and cooperation.

"Threats such as misinformation, disinformation, and coordinated cyber attacks do not recognize national boundaries," Nezar said in his official broadcast quoted Monday, October 20.

Nezar stressed the importance of a clear and strong framework for sharing information and increasing the readiness of countries in the Southeast Asian region in dealing with cyber threats.

As for the innovation sector, Nezar asked industry players in the field of digital technology to establish strategic partnerships and investments to strengthen national and regional stability, encourage economic growth, and ensure sovereignty.

Nezar hopes that there will be concrete development projects, as well as to strengthen relations between industry and policymakers.

"The expected strategic result is the formation of a long-term security cooperation community," he concluded.
