Data 70,000 Discord Users Leaked, Experts Highlight Long-Term Risks

JAKARTA Discord recently revealed that sensitive data from 70,000 users was leaked due to a third-party vendor. This data includes names, email addresses, and other contact details.

Other sensitive information that may have leaked is the last four digits of credit cards and a history of purchases. Seeing this incident, Cybersecurity expert from Keeper Security, Anne Total, stated that data protection beyond the boundaries of the internal network is very important.

"This incident is a reminder that data protection doesn't stop at the boundaries of your own network", saidURd in a statement received by VOI on Friday, October 10.

Compared to passwords, official ID photos and other personal data mentioned above are much more valuable to hackers. The reason is, misappropriated identities cannot be canceled or reset. This data permanent nature makes the data leakage problem worrying.
