JAKARTA WhatsApp, a messaging platform under Meta, has launched a message translator feature for all its users. This feature will be available to Android or iOS users.
This feature is designed to facilitate user communication across languages. If users have to exchange messages with WhatsApp users in other countries, now they can use their respective languages and the feature will translate.
If a user receives a message in a foreign language and wants to understand it quickly, they only need to press the length of the message received. After that, select Translated option to view messages in the selected language.
This feature is not limited to private chat rooms. Users can take advantage of this feature in the group chat room, even on the channel. Unfortunately, language support for Android and iOS is still differentiated by WhatsApp.
For Android users, this feature will support six main languages in the early stages. The languages are English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. Users cannot use Indonesian on Android version of WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, iOS users can use this feature in 19 languages, including Arabic, English, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, and many more. Indonesian is already supported in the iOS version.

Android users get one extra feature that is very useful. They can enable automatic translation for the whole conversation. With this feature, all incoming messages in the same conversation will be translated automatically.
These two features continue to prioritize the privacy of their users. Translation of this message works locally on the device so that anyone, including WhatsApp, cannot see the content of the translated message.
The launch of this feature is still in the launch stage and is being carried out in stages. It is not yet known when WhatsApp will add language support. However, the language of this translator feature will certainly increase in the near future.
The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
