JAKARTA - Samsung is again showing its dominance in one important aspect that often escapes attention: battery life in the long term. Based on the latest EU Energy Label (EU Energy Label) energy efficiency label, Samsung's Galaxy S25 device is able to last up to 2,000 charging cycles before starting to lose significant capacity. Meanwhile, Apple's latest iPhone 17 line? Only 1,000 cycles aka only half!

This energy label from the European Union is a new source of information that is very useful for consumers, because it not only shows how power efficient a cellphone is, but also provides an overview of its battery life over time. In the midst of onslaught of specifications such as cameras, chipsets, and designs, numbers like this actually offer objective facts that have been difficult to find.

Apple has just released four models in the iPhone 17: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro series, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air super thin models that are their new mainstays. All four do show high power efficiency. But, unfortunately, there is no increase in battery life when compared to the previous generation, the iPhone 16. The four of them are still only able to survive 1,000 charging cycles, according to official documents on the EU energy label.

On the other hand, Samsung is one step ahead. The Galaxy S25, including its Ultra and Plus variants, has recorded a figure of 2,000 cycles, which means theoretically, these Samsung phones can last twice as long as their battery capacity begins to decline drastically.

Of course, Apple could play it safe by providing conservative figures, while Samsung is more optimistic. But still, this is important information for potential buyers, especially those planning to use cell phones for more than two years. In an era where flagship prices are increasingly expensive, battery life is no longer an additional feature but a necessity.

Although not necessarily making iPhone users switch to Android in the near future, the lack of improvement in this sector could be an Apple weak point that is starting to be highlighted. For Samsung, this is the perfect gap for showing off that they are still leading the important aspects that are rarely discussed.
