JAKARTA Meta launched several new features for fact-based fact checking programs adopted from X, namely Community Records. These updates include notifications and record requests.

When users interact with posts that don't have Community Records, they will miss important information or even improvements to the post. However, this will not happen because of the notification feature from Meta.

When users have interacted with any type of post, including those containing disinformation and getting improvements from Community Records, they will receive notifications. This feature will appear in Facebook Community Records, Instagram, or Threads.

That way, users will know the latest information from the posts they have seen. This will facilitate the spread of useful footprints. In addition, Meta also added a note request feature or assessed existing records.

However, CISO Meta, Guy Rosen, stated that these features are still in the 'trial' stage. That way, it is not certain when the feature will actually be available and can be used by Meta social media users.

Since Community Records launched by Meta, this feature has attracted 70,000 contributors with a record of 15,000 writing. Unfortunately, not all of these notes were published, only six percent of the records passed.

Meta's Community Record System imitated the system that was first launched by X, formerly known as Twitter. Notes will appear when users make mistakes in their posts.

Although this system can help fight misinformation, critics say there are some weaknesses. According to the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), according to TechCrunch, misinformation could spread virally before correcting.

CDT studies found that more than 70 percent of accurate records related to US election misinformation were never shown to users. CDT also questions the effectiveness of this system on visual platforms such as Instagram and Reels.
