Xiaomi Withdraws More Than 100 Thousand Power Banks Due To Security Issues

JAKARTA - Xiaomi has officially announced a global recall for power banks 33W 20,000mAh (Integrated Cable) due to security concerns that could potentially harm users. This withdrawal only applies to limited batches produced between August and September 2024.

In its official announcement, Xiaomi stated that a small number of power bank units are at risk of overheating and in very rare cases, could cause a fire hazard. The affected model has a PB2030MI model number and is equipped with a built-in cable. The Blue and Tan color variants are both included in this withdrawal list.

Even though the number of reported incidents is very limited, maintaining standard product quality and user safety is our top priority. We apologize for the inconvenience caused," Xiaomi wrote in a statement.

The problem is reportedly sourced from certain raw materials supplied during the production period. Xiaomi insists that only a small part of the units sold around the world are affected, while other Xiaomi power banks remain safe to use.

For users who have a power bank with that model or doubt whether their unit is included in the withdrawn batch, Xiaomi provides an official support page to check the product serial number. If identified as an affected unit, users can apply for a refund or get a new unit replacement.
