Discord Announces Major Update: New Rules Applicable From September 29

JAKARTA - Discord announced a major update on the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Paid Service Provisions, and Community Guidelines, which will take effect on September 29, 2025.

"Along with ongoing efforts to improve services, respond to new laws around the world, and protect your privacy, we periodically update this policy," the company said in an announcement on its official website.

In the Service Provisions, Discord now provides a more detailed description of how they work, including how users communicate, connect game accounts, share activities, and enjoy sponsored content such as Quests.

Discord also updated rules regarding dispute resolution and arbitration agreements, adding new details for paid services, such as Discord Orbs virtual prizes and reserve payment methods.

In terms of Privacy Policy, Discord emphasizes the transparency of data usage. The company describes what data can be collected, how the data is used, and the control options available to users through Data Privacy Controls.

This update also concerns the use of data to display relevant sponsored content. In addition, Discord adapts policies to privacy laws in various parts of the world.

Meanwhile, for Community Guidelines, Discord added details and Policy Explainers that clearly explain prohibited behavior and content.

The company insists that this guideline is the main rule governing the use of the platform, so that violations can lead to strict sanctions.
