JAKARTA - Samsung has just released its newest foldable cell phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and this device has undergone a solardown process aka demolition. Although the outward view of Flip 7 looks similar to its predecessor, the results of theEARdown show that Samsung has secretly made some important changes to the inside that could facilitate repairs and extend the device's life and life.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 now uses regular Philips screws, no longer a proprietary screw like Apple's pentalobe. In addition, the double battery used is now equipped with a pull tab or towing band, making it easier to remove without the need to damage other components a big increase compared to the previous Flip generation who used strong glue to hold the battery in place.

However, the biggest obstacle on this foldable phone remains unchanged: the 6.9-inch flexible OLED screen which is the main attraction remains difficult to replace. The dust-resistant hinge mechanism with an IP48 rating referred to as the Armor Flex is also not easy to repair. If there is damage or wear on the hinge section, the replacement process is expected to require certain technical time and expertise.

On the other hand, the cover screen and the back of the device, although it requires isoprodic and hot alcohol to remove the glue, can actually be removed in one part and relatively easy to replace. This makes the process of repairing general components such as the screen, back, and battery simpler than the previous generation.

This silent change made by Samsung behind the scenes shows that they are starting to think about aspects of sustainability and ease of service. Although most users may still choose the official service center, the use of standard screws and easily released batteries hints at Samsung's new approach to product durability.
