ITU Appreciates Indonesia's Role in Global Digital Transformation Collaboration

JAKARTA - The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) commends the Indonesian government for its contribution to promoting inclusivity and global collaboration in the field of digital transformation.

The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin, expressed her appreciation to Indonesia for its contribution to promoting inclusivity and global collaboration in the field of digital transformation.

In an official letter to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, Bogdan-Martin assessed Indonesia's active role in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and other international digital forums.

This appreciation strengthens Indonesia's position as a key actor in global digital diplomacy ahead of the WSIS+20 Review at the UN General Assembly in December 2025.

"ITU highly appreciates Indonesia's continued support for the WSIS process and the government's active involvement in the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines. We look forward to closer collaboration ahead of the WSIS+20 Review at the UN General Assembly next December," Bogdan-Martin said in her official letter.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya stated that this recognition affirms Indonesia's commitment to acting as a bridge between developed and developing countries in global digital governance.

"This appreciation is not only for the government, but also for the Indonesian people who continue to promote inclusive digital innovation. We want to ensure that the interests of developing countries, especially Indonesia, are reflected in the global digital agenda," she said.

This ITU recognition strengthens Indonesia's position in international digital diplomacy and is a strategic step that will determine the direction of Indonesia's global cooperation in the digital sector.
