JAKARTA - TruCarbon (PT Solusi Transitisi Iklim), a company that supports climate transition in IBM's business sector as well as partners, is working with IBM to develop carbon management solutions.

Through this collaboration, the two companies presented a solution called TruMRV (monitoring, reporting, and verification), which was built using IBM watsonx, a superior portfolio of AI products from IBM.

This solution is designed to encourage monitoring and reporting of environmental, social, and governance aspects (environmental, social, and governance - ESG) in Indonesia.

By leveraging IBM watsonx's sophistication, TruMRV of TruCarbon will use artificial intelligence (AI) to automate and accelerate previously expensive manual processes, to help companies track and reduce their carbon emissions.

The system is also able to identify and calculate the carbon absorption potential of forestry concession projects, as well as ensure real-time verification using a geospatial intelligence system.

This collaboration demonstrates the company's commitment to driving a real and measurable climate impact, to help companies navigate their climate travel towards a more sustainable future.

"We combine our expertise in climate science, policies and carbon markets with IBM's ethical and regular AI protocols," said TruCarbon CEO Debby Reynata.

IBM President Director Roy Kosasih said IBM technology could play an important role in the company's sustainability journey.

"We are excited to be collaborating with TruCarbon to drive a real and measurable climate impact," Roy said further.

TruCarbon plans to test this solution in the REDD+ Kapuas Sibau project in West Kalimantan next year. During the trial, this project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 18 to 19 million tons.
