JAKARTA NASA revealed the latest developments from Starlab, a space station that will be commercially operated. The station has completed five important development milestones.

This milestone is in line with the NASA Space Act Agreement which was issued in 2021. Each stage of the development passed provides insight to NASA regarding the progress of the big project.

Angela Hart, NASA's Commercial Low-Earth Orbit Development Program Manager, highlights the importance of Starlab development. In addition to providing wider insight to NASA, this project can drive the success of future missions.

"(In) our efforts towards a future low-Earth orbit, these milestones demonstrate Starlab's dedication to building a commercial space station that can support human life and advance scientific research," explains Angela.

NASA revealed that Starlab has completed an initial design review and safety of its station architecture. After passing this stage, the company will design details and developments for its hardware.

The peak of this stage is to conduct a critical design review later this year. NASA will also build a full-scale station maket with high fidelity. This maket will be placed in NASA Johnson's Maket Wahana Antariksa Facility.

This maket will later be tested directly with humans in the interior design evaluation and crew training. Starlab will also complete a review of the system design architecture and procurement plans.
