JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid encourages the acceleration of internet access in the eastern region as the foundation of an inclusive, safe and ethical artificial intelligence (AI) transformation.

Because according to him, digital infrastructure is a key prerequisite for equitable AI technology in Indonesia, and without connectivity, he believes AI will not be possible.

The availability of adequate connectivity can be utilized in various fields. Meutya also said that AI has been widely utilized in the world of marketing, the game industry, and education.

"The fishing is one of the concerns as well, and we also want more AI to be included in public services or government services. So this is what we have to push forward," said Meutya in her official broadcast.

For this reason, Meutya requested that business actors have the ability in the digital field and start utilizing AI. He emphasized that the government will continue to encourage increased digital connectivity in eastern Indonesia to realize digital transformation throughout Indonesia.

"If digital transformation goes well, we should no longer have 3T areas because it is broken through with digitalization," he said.

Meanwhile, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Digi is currently designing a roadmap for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create AI governance in Indonesia, to answer the massive development of AI.

Meutya has mentioned that this AI roadmap will be targeted for release in June this year. The preparation of this AI roadmap is carried out to find the best formula in making appropriate AI regulations in the country.
