JAKARTA - Google officially launched AI Mode, the most advanced artificial intelligence-based search feature they created, for users in the United States first.

Introduced at the Google I/O 2025 event, AI Mode presents a new way of answering complex questions with more contextual, intuitive, and personal responses.

"No product represents our mission more than Google Search," said Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, in his main presentation at I/O 2025 which was held on May 20-21.

AI Mode is a continued evolution of the AI Overviews feature that was launched last year, featuring a summary of AI at the top of search results as the system detects high relevance.

Redesigned from the base, the AI Mode interface provides wider space for long inputs, displays AI responses in easily digested formats, and makes it easier to follow up through the search field at the bottom of the screen.

If AI Overviews will display a short answer automatically on top of Google's search, AI Mode will provide you with a new experience such as chatting with AI within Google Search.

Simply put, you can ask some long and complex questions, use everyday language, and AI Mode will provide a complete answer. You can also ask more about certain topics by activating the AI Mode feature through a special tab.

This feature was developed with AI experts (AI power users) to understand their deep needs. After going through the internal testing phase and Labs since last March, AI Mode is now available in the United States via custom tabs on Search and shortcuts on the Google app.

Google stated that global launches and expansion of additional features will be carried out in stages in the next few months.
