JAKARTA Reddit, a popular discussion platform, filed a lawsuit against Anthropic Artificial Intelligence startup (AI). The company is accused of stealing data from Reddit's website to train its AI model.

Reporting from Reuters, the lawsuit was filed with the San Francisco High Court on Wednesday, June 4. In the complaint letter submitted, Reddit stated that Anthropic refused to sign a license agreement.

"(Obviously) trained on at least some of the Reddit data," said Reddit. The provider of the discussion platform also admitted that he did not know whether the Reddit content used by Claude had been deleted by Anthropic.

Reddit added that they had blocked bots from accessing the Reddit platform. This blocking was confirmed in July last year to prevent data theft on its website, but Claude managed to retrieve user conversation data.

Anthropic is also claimed to have accessed Reddit content more than 100,000 times. This is considered a violation and destruction of Anthropic's commitment, namely AI which prioritizes trust and honesty.

"Anthropic refuses to respect Reddit's restrictions and sign license agreements, unlike Google and OpenAI," said Reddit. Anthropic also violated Reddit's user policy by training his AI to 'enrich himself'.

On this charge, Reddit filed unspecified compensation. They also asked the court to ban Anthropic from using Reddit content for commercial purposes.

On the other hand, Anthropies denied the allegations. The company's spokesman said that, "We do not agree with Reddit's claim and will defend ourselves (in court) firmly."
