JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Communication and Digital is preparing a roadmap for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create AI governance in Indonesia, to answer the massive development of AI.

In making this roadmap, the Ministry of Komkomdigi has organized various discussion forums and collaborated with various stakeholders including private parties such as IBM, to ensure that roadmaps are compiled comprehensively.

In the discussion, IBM Indonesia provided an experience that the company already has in the adoption and development of ethical AI, to be able to be included in the Indonesian AI regulation in the future.

"So how do we share with Komdigi our experience, structures or (technology) in IBM, who should be there, how the life cycle is, and also how the AI principles are," the company said on Wednesday, June 4 at IBM Indonesia's office.

IBM Indonesia also emphasizes the four main principles needed by the Ministry of Communication and Industry in making the AI roadmap, such as openness (openness), justice (faimen), explanability, and transparency (transparency).

"IBM, we hope that this AI will remain open and ethical. So transparent, explanable, those are the basic principles of AI ethics that we hope for," they continued.

Meanwhile, Minister of Trade Meutya Hafid has mentioned that this AI roadmap will be targeted for release in June this year. The preparation of this AI roadmap is carried out to find the best formula in making appropriate AI regulations in the country.

"Currently we are compiling a national AI roadmap, the target is June, if I'm not mistaken. So this June, God willing, we already have a national roadmap for artificial intelligence," said Meutya at the launch of Friends-AI by GoTo Group and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
