Komdigi Calls AI Can Encourage The Efficiency And Sustainability Of The Mining Industry

JAKARTA - In order to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for the mining sector in Indonesia, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) held the Indonesia AI Day for Mining Industry.

Carrying the theme 'Navigating the Future of Indonesia's Mining Industry', this event is expected to accelerate industrial digitization and increase efficiency, sustainability, safety, and work security that can boost Indonesia's competitiveness in the global arena.

"Through Indonesia AI Day for Mining Industry, we want to build an ecosystem that is smart, safe, and sustainable, and ensure that this digital transformation has a direct impact on equitable and inclusive economic growth," said President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that the adoption of AI technology in the mining industry could place Indonesia as an influential country in the world or the global top.

Nezar believes that in at least a decade the mining industry can strengthen Indonesia's position as a global player with effective, efficient and sustainable mining practices.

According to him, AI technology in the mining industry is able to optimize supply chain, and in fact, the merger of machine learning with computer vision will facilitate the construction of one mining area in just a matter of hours.

Because AI is able to increase productivity. Automation capabilities also help reduce workload and time for miners, so they can focus on high value activities, such as innovation and business creativity," he explained at the event.

Although there are still concerns, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade believes that the adoption of AI technology will be able to create added value in mining products by realizing sustainable mining.
