JAKARTA - According to latest Kaspersky Incident Response analysts, long-term attacks that lasted more than a month accounted for 35.2 percent of the total attacks in 2024.

Long-term attacks recorded a median duration of up to 253 days. Meanwhile, the average time the team needed to respond to the incident was about 50 hours, reflecting the high complexity level in handling such attacks.

The main impact of long-term cyberattacks was identified as encryption and data leakage, posing a significant risk to the organization.

The initial vector for this attack largely includes exploits targeting publicly accessed applications, leveraging trusted relationships, and using valid accounts.

"Understanding the growing landscape of cyber threats is very important for any organization to protect assets and the process strictly," said Konstantin Sapronov, Head of the Global Emergency Response Team at Kaspersky.

According to him, the resilience of attackers in cyberspace, which is growing as technological advances, encourages organizations not only to respond but also to anticipate and adapt security measures proactively.
