JAKARTA - Xiaomi is one of the first non-Google brands to allow users to try Android 16 earlier through the Developer Preview program. Originally only available in China, now this beta program has been opened globally for certain Xiaomi devices.
If you have a device that meets the requirements and can't wait for a stable version that is likely to only arrive in June, then you can immediately try Android 16 beta right now. However, keep in mind, the beta is usually still a lot of bugs and features that haven't been running perfectly. So, prepare backup data and make sure the battery is at least 50% before starting.
Currently, only two Xiaomi devices can take part in the Android 16 Beta program, namely:
Xiaomi 15
Xiaomi 14T Pro
Both devices are flagship models released in the second half of 2024. If you don't have one of them, then you have to wait for Xiaomi to expand beta device support or consider upgrading the device.
All data will be deleted after upgrading. Fully backup to the cloud or other devices.
Ensure the battery power is at least 50%.

Xiaomi 15: OS2.0.109.0.VOCMIXM or higher
Xiaomi 14T Pro: OS2.0.103.0.VNNMIXM or higher
Steps:
Important data backups.
Download the Android 16 Beta package for your device:

Copy files to internal storage.
Open Settings > About Phones.
Tap the OS version 10 times to enter developer mode.
Back to the About Phone page, tap the three-dot icon at the top right.
Select the option to select the update package.
Direct to downloaded files, then confirm update.
Wait until the process is complete. The phone will automatically reboot to Android 16 Beta.
If you want to return to the stable version, download the following rollback package:
Xiaomi 15 OS2.0.109.0.VOCMIXM
Xiaomi 14T Pro OS2.0.103.0.VNNMIXM

Steps:
Your important data backup.
Turn off the device, then press the bottom volume + power button simultaneously to enter the Fastboot mode.
Use the device to PC using a USB cable.
Download the Android 16 Beta package:
Xiaomi 15 [Download link]
Xiaomi 14T Pro [Download link]
Extract the downloaded ROM file.
Copy the extract-product folder path.
Download and extract Xiaomi divided tools on PCs.
Run the XiaoMi file rest.exe from the extract product folder.
Click the Refresh button to detect the device.
Paste ROM's folder path into the column on Xiaomi? Tool.
Click the Flash button and wait for the process to complete.
