Google Develops Maps Navigation Feature For Smart Glasses

JAKARTA Smart glasses have brought many breakthroughs, ranging from very clear cameras to the ability to interact with virtual assistants. Now, the technology will be smarter thanks to Google.

Based on Android Authority findings, Google is developing a navigation feature that makes Google Maps connected with smart glasses. On Android Auto version 14,2,151544, this feature is seen in the form of a string code or text-shaped word.

There are two strings that refer directly to the glasses. The first string only refers to the GLASSES text, while the second string leads to a menu. In the string, there is the words 'Start navigation to launch glasses'.

When viewed from these two strings, it looks like GLASSES will be active when users use Google Maps navigation. It is not known with certainty whether the option will be activated automatically or need to be activated manually before opening Maps.

Meanwhile, the next string leads to an integrated navigation function with smart glasses. It should be noted that the string code shows that its features are still in the process of development and have not been tested or launched in beta.

Unfortunately, it is still unclear what the purpose of this feature will be, such as any device that will be compatible. The interface of the feature has not yet been formed so it is not known what it looks like when the feature is available in smart glasses.

Regardless of what device will be compatible with this capability, the Google Maps navigation feature sounds promising. With this feature, users no longer need to open their phone to get clear directions regarding the direction to go.

By relying solely on the glasses worn, users can arrive at the destination location without any problems. Even though it has been developed in the form of a string code, this feature will not necessarily be launched. Google can stop developing its features at any time.
