JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening supervision of digital spaces to eradicate online gambling which is increasingly rife in Indonesia.

In a meeting with the Presidential Special Advisor for Political and Security Affairs, General (Ret.) Wiranto, at the Komdigi Office, Meutya discussed strategies and cross-sectoral cooperation to deal with this problem effectively.

"Therefore, we strengthen the Online Judi Eradication Dec with a technology-based approach and cross-sectoral cooperation so that this effort runs more effectively," said Meutya.

According to him, online gambling is currently not only detrimental to the country's economy, but also has a greater social impact.

Wiranto also welcomed this step and emphasized that online gambling management must be carried out with an integrated strategy.

According to Wiranto, the integrated strategy includes legal aspects, blocking access to technology, and increasing digital literacy in the community so that they do not fall into this illegal practice easily.

"We must act quickly and decisively with clear regulations and effective law enforcement to close the gap in online gambling trafficking," said Wiranto.

In addition to eradicating online gambling, this meeting also highlighted the importance of increasing cybersecurity and protecting personal data, given the high threat of data leakage and cyber attacks on various institutions.

In this case, Wiranto emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments, technology companies, and the community to create a more secure and reliable digital ecosystem.

"With concrete steps through the Decree on the Eradication of Online Gambling and the Dec on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, it is hoped that Indonesia's digital security will be stronger and able to face threats in cyberspace more effectively," he said.
