JAKARTA - Some time ago, Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said he had recruited several young Indonesians to create artificial intelligence (AI) from within the country.

Responding to the news, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamen Ekraf) Irene Umar ensured that her party had coordinated with the digital talent development program of artificial intelligence (AI) initiated by Luhut.

Irene admitted that before the official announcement from Luhut, the Ministry of Creative Economy had coordinated and they had also prepared the necessary steps to realize the initiative.

"From the start, before being announced yesterday, we have coordinated, therefore we are in Magelang (retret), so that the coordination runs," said Irene on the sidelines of the 2025 Dicoding Connect event on Thursday, February 20 in Jakarta.

In addition, Irene also emphasized that AI is not only about developers, but also needs feeders who provide data and information so that AI can function properly.

"One thing we want to say is this, we always see that AI is on the building side, right. Meanwhile, AI itself also needs feeders who teach AI. For example, AI can speak Indonesian because why? Because we all feed Indonesian to AI," he explained.

Regarding the program promoted by Luhut, Irene explained that her focus is on high technology and advanced programming. This is intended for the development of comprehensive AI, and covers various levels of expertise, from the most basic to the level of experts.

"For what Pak Luthut did was more high-tech, the same as decoding. So why? We have to be able to prepare everything. If not, it's limp," he concluded.
