Google Focuses On Using AI And Collaboration To Create A Safe Internet

JAKARTA - Google continues to strengthen its commitment through artificial intelligence (AI)-based technological innovation and collaboration with various parties, in order to create a secure digital space for all users, especially children.

Director of Government Relations and Public Policy of Google Indonesia, Putri Alam emphasized that for more than a decade, Google has used AI to protect users from increasingly complex online threats.

In this effort, Putri added, Google has implemented two approaches, the first is by using AI technology, as well as collaboration with various parties.

"We provide world-class AI-tech products that are safe by default for all Indonesian citizens at all ages on all of our platforms. Second, we also focus on fostering cooperation and collaboration with various sectors, platforms, and ecosystems," he said at the 2025 internet Security Day event with Google on Tuesday, February 18 at the Ministry of Communication and Culture, Jakarta.

For example, Google Safe Browsing has protected more than 5 billion devices by identifying phishing, malware, scams, and other digital threats in real-time.

In addition, Putri added, Enhanced Protection Mode in Chrome which uses AI and machine learning has succeeded in identifying malicious URLs, limiting the spread of risky content, and increasing user protection while surfing online.

"We also apply similar principles to solve the problem of online gambling which is increasingly worrying in Indonesia. For example, our system automatically blocks at least 100 thousand gambling sites containing spam every week," he said.
