Platform X Blocks User Ability To Send Signal.me Links

JAKARTA - Social media platform X blocks links to Signal encrypted messaging services, particularly links with the "Signal.me" domain, which are usually used to make it easier for others to contact Signal users.

According to a report from the Disruptionist blog, some X users have complained that they cannot share links containing Signal.me domains, both on direct messages (DM), public posts, as well as profiles or bio.

So, when they tried to share the link, they received a message of error stating that the link was potentially dangerous or considered spam.

In fact, based on the screenshot given, if someone tries to add a "Signal.me" link to their bio, X displays a message calling it malware.

"We cannot fulfill this request because this link has been identified by X or our partner as a potentially dangerous link," reads one of the failure warnings while trying to install the "Signal.me" link on X.

"To protect our users from spam and other dangerous activities, we cannot complete this action at this time. Please try again later," wrote another warning.

Not only blocking Signal.me links, X also blocks users from being able to click on the link, which was posted before the URL blocking was enforced.

When a user tries to click on the Signal.me link that has been posted to X, they will probably find a warning page from X that reads:

Warning: this link may not be safe. The link you are trying to access has been identified by X or our partner as potentially containing spam or unsafe, in accordance with URL Policy X

Currently, there has been no response from Elon Musk's company regarding the blocking of this Signal.me link.

However, it seems that the blocking does not apply across the country, because when VOI tries to post links and change bio profiles with Signal.me links on X, the post can still be sent as usual.
