JAKARTA - Artificial Intelligence (AI) observer and founder of the Artificial Intelligence Implementation Initiative (AI3) movement, Sony Subrata emphasized the need for a more directed strategy in the implementation of AI in Indonesia.
According to Sony, Indonesia needs to catch up with other countries such as China, and find its own position in the AI ecosystem which continues to grow rapidly.
"With increasingly fierce competition, Indonesia must immediately determine its role in this ecosystem," said Sony in a written statement on Tuesday, February 4.
He believes that the implementation of AI with the right strategy will be the main driving force for Indonesia's economic growth and will help achieve the economic growth target of 8 percent per year or more.
As a form of commitment to encourage the use of AI in Indonesia, AI3 is present not only to develop technology, but also to provide strategic input to the government in formulating AI policies.
AI3 also encourages the involvement of various parties in building a strong and sustainable AI ecosystem.
Sony also said that Indonesia's success in the AI sector really depends on the close collaboration between the government, academics, and industry.
"We need to make sure that this technology is not only consumed, but is also developed according to national needs," he added.
